Riding a 1979 Suzuki GS-750 on the best roads through the Cotswolds, England.

By | Motorcycle, The Spot, Trip

I haven’t taken nearly enough motorcycle rides around England since I moved here. It was a regular thing to do when living in California, but weather and life conspire against me in England it seems. But finally I was able to utilize a few off days between films to get on my 1979 GS750 and get out of London. I decided to take a quick run through a region of England called the Cotswolds.

Shooting at the 2016 Silverstone Classic

By | Car, film, Formula 1, Gear, How To, Shooting, silverstone

This was my first trip to the Silverstone Classic, and boy was it a big one! I had seen beautiful photography from this event many times but my love of all things Goodwood has meant I haven’t had the budged to get out here yet. Well I managed to do it in 2016, and I may be doing this instead of the Goodwood FoS in 2017, only time will tell. But it was one hell of a motor sport event, I spent 2 days and 1 night inside the confines of Silverstone Circuit.

Shooting the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed

By | Car, Formula 1, Gear, How To, Shooting

2012 was the first year I went to the FoS and it blew my mind. Never before had I been around more vehicular energy in my life. So many cars, cars I never thought I’d see, much less get close to. Racing cars with legendary names written on the side. Cars that have set records, cars that have become legends themselves. All here for you to see, hear and touch.

Shooting the Blancpain GT Series

Sony 70-200mm f/4.0 G OSS ISO100 F8 1/320 147mm This was my first ever trip to Brands Hatch, which is located in the foothills just a couple hours outside of London. Because its close to where I live, I decided to ride my motorcycle to the track. I thought I'd just throw my gear in my backpack and enjoy a nice ride down! Afterall it's an ultralight mirrorless setup right? Well let me just say this straight up, riding to and from the track and carrying all this crap around for hours in the heat kicked my ass. By the time...

Best fan photo spots at Silverstone

By | How To, silverstone, The Spot | No Comments

Race tracks are huge, and as a fan it’s not always easy to find the best places to take photos. Not to mention hauling a bunch of camera gear all over is a serious ass kick. So I’m going to fill you in on some the top spots to shoot at Silverstone as a fan, some may be obvious and some may not be so obvious. But without a press pass we need to find as many gaps in the fence as we can right? I hope this list can help both your photography and your lower back, shoulders and neck!

Shooting the WEC Silverstone

By | Car, Gear, How To, Shooting, silverstone | No Comments

This was my first ever WEC event, and even though I’ve been to Silverstone before I didn’t know what to expect. But one thing blew me away immediately, the ACCESS to eveything. I could go to almost any grandstand, the paddock and even a pit walk. The smaller crowd, and length of the endurance race, meant that all those little gaps in the fencing that are usually jam packed at an F1 race, were open for me to use. If I couldn’t get some nice photos here, I wasn’t going to get them anywhere. The pressure was ON!

Developing with the Nik Collection

By | How To | No Comments
I've been a die hard Adobe user my entire computer life, for photography that means Lightroom and Photoshop. A lot of people swear by the Nik Collection of image editing modules, but I had never given them a shot. Well that all changed when they became free. Yes that's right, instead of something becoming MORE expensive, something good became FREE! My previous workflow was simply to import RAWs into Lightroom and do 95% of my work there, going into Photoshop only if it was required. But with my latest project I decided to integrate the Nik package into my workflow...

Shooting the 74th Members Meeting

By | Car, Gear, Motorcycle, Shooting | No Comments
Sony/Zeiss 55mm 1.8 ISO100 F8 1/60 Man, I sure do love Goodwood!! The effort that goes into the events Lord March holds are beyond anything I've seen anywhere else. The Festival of Speed and Revival are both world famous, but quickly rising in the ranks is the Members Meeting. This is the 74th year they have held it, but only the 3rd where it was open to the public. What makes the Members Meeting special is the vintage racing and high speed demonstrations. You wont be so likely to ever see more priceless cars banging doors anywhere else on Earth. Sony/Zeiss...
